Welcome Sara Storm — New Operations Assistant

Published Fri 15 May 2026

Judo Queensland is pleased to announce the appointment of Sara Storm as Operations Assistant.

Sara joins the JQ team with a strong background in sport administration, having spent five years with the Swedish Badminton Federation across competition management, event planning, and grant writing. She relocated to Queensland's Gold Coast last year and brings with her a deep belief in the power of sport to build community and develop life skills.

In her own words:

"Hi, I'm Sara! I've just joined Judo Queensland as Operations Assistant, and I'm really happy to be here. I grew up in Sweden, where I spent five years working for the Swedish Badminton Federation. I got to be involved in all sorts of things — writing grant applications, organising competitions, planning events. I loved working behind the scenes and being part of a community that genuinely cared about growing their sport.

Last year, my partner and I made the move to the Gold Coast, and honestly, we haven't looked back. The lifestyle here is everything we hoped for. When I'm not working, you'll find me out in the water trying to surf some cosy waves, or exploring new spots along the coast.

Joining Judo Queensland feels like a natural next step. I've always believed that sport is one of the best ways to learn life skills, build friendships, and be part of a community. Being part of a small, passionate organisation that wants to grow is exactly the kind of work I find meaningful.

I'm still learning about judo as a sport, and I love that. The people I've already met here have so much passion and drive, it makes me excited to dive in.

I look forward to meeting more of you soon!"

Judo Queensland warmly welcomes Sara to the team and looks forward to her contribution to the growth of the sport in Queensland.
