Queensland Judoka Shine at 2026 Cadet European Millennium Cup
Published Mon 18 May 2026
Three Queensland judoka have represented Australia with distinction at the 2026 Bielsko Biala Millennium Team Cadet European Cup in Poland — with Rika Hirose of Hirose Judo Academy claiming a silver medal in the under 52kg category.

Rika's runner-up finish is a tremendous achievement on the international stage and a testament to the calibre of talent coming through Queensland judo. Competing against some of Europe's best cadet athletes, Rika produced a composed and impressive performance throughout the event to stand on the podium and represent Australia with pride.
Congratulations also to Lisa Caravello and Kai Topp of Ohori Judo Club, who both delivered strong performances across their respective categories. Their presence at a tournament of this calibre speaks volumes about the standard of preparation and coaching coming out of
Queensland.
It's a proud moment for both clubs, Hirose Judo Academy and Ohori Judo Club, and for Queensland judo as a whole.
But the campaign isn't over yet. All three athletes are heading straight to Faro, Portugal, for the Faro Millennium Team Cadet European Cup later this week. Competing back-to-back at international level is no small feat, and Judo Queensland wishes Rika, Lisa, and Kai the very best as they take on the next challenge.
Queensland is proud of you. Keep flying the flag! 🏆
